Last week, I had the pleasure of taking part in Catherine Yaffe's Feet up Friday! Take a look below, and head over to Catherine's website via the link at the bottom of the page to see more from her.
This weeks Feet Up Friday I’m handing over to good friend and Harrogate pal, Tony Millington. Not only is Tony (and his wife Anne) a lovely bloke, he writes the Monteith and Watson books which I absolutely devoured and can’t wait for the 3rd (out in time for Harrogate next year, bring it on!)
Tell us when and where your journey as an author began?
I have always had little snippets of stories in my head. When I was still in my teens, I wrote on my typewriter a story about a football team of friends reaching the FA Cup final. I don’t know where that is now. My real journey started in 2016 when I first put the words detectives Watson and Monteith down on paper, and developed the story for their first book, Family First.
What would you consider to be your biggest achievement as a writer, so far? Being published. Seeing a publisher taking all your hard work and making it into an eBook and a physical paperback.
Who or what is your greatest inspiration? Meeting and talking to other authors, and the encouragement they give. (Note: you’re equally as encouraging, Tony.)
What’s next for you? Book 3 in the Monteith & Watson series, Battlelines, is due out 24th July 2023. My publishers have book 4 in the series, and I am now editing book 5. I will be out and about at festivals next year. Details to come.
Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors? Don’t give up and keep writing. Always believe in yourself and your writing. Every famous author in history had to start somewhere.
